Abby Brooks joined Tallahassee Neurological Clinic in 2007. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in 1997. She worked as a registered nurse for several years at TMH and Vanderbilt University Medical Center before enrolling in graduate school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Emory with honors in 2002 with a Master of Science in Nursing as an Acute/Critical Care Nurse practitioner. Following graduation, she worked at The Emory Clinic Department of Neurosurgery, until she moved back to her native Tallahassee in 2006. She is licensed by the State of Florida as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
Abby has been a guest speaker at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, at Emory University Hospital, and locally for the Council of Advanced Practice Nurses of Tallahassee. She is an Affiliate member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Abby works with Drs. Lee, Beaty, Oliver and Lawson and plays a vital role in providing timely and high-quality neurosurgical care for their patients. Her responsibilities include assisting with office patient evaluations, hospital rounds and consultations, first-assist in surgery, post-operative care and follow-up visits, and teaching and counseling patients and their families throughout their time in the clinic’s care. Additionally, she provides medical record review and testimony as a nurse expert witness for nurses and nurse practitioners in neurosurgery and related fields for medical legal litigation.
Abby is a Tallahassee native and attended both Maclay and Leon High Schools. She is married and has two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, following FSU and Georgia football, gardening, and the outdoors.
