Dr. Mena M. Samaan joined the Tallahassee Neurological Clinic after completing his postgraduate training in vascular/stroke neurology and Endovascular Neurointerventional fellowships at both New York Medical College Hospitals; Westchester Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine; Hackensack University Medical Center Hospital. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Neurology and Vascular Neurology and is licensed in Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
He attended Medical School in Alexandria, Egypt, one of the Middle East’s pre-eminent medical education and research institutions. He was graduated Summa Cum Laude. In July 2013, Dr. Samaan became a resident in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Hospitals, Montefiore Health System, before joining Neurology residency at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine Hospital; John F. Kennedy University Medical Center following several years of training in general, vascular neurology and neurocritical care. Dr. Samaan spent 12 months working as the chief resident of the residency program. After residency, he joined an academic Neurovascular Neurohospital staff at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center, for three years, where he served the underprivileged population of central Pennsylvania and community outreach and helped to achieve comprehensive stroke designation for two of the hospitals of Geisinger Health System.
Dr. Samaan decided to pursue further training in Vascular Neurology, and Endovascular Neurointervention where he joined New York Medical College Hospital, Westchester Medical Center under the direction of Drs Stephan Mayer and Fawaz Al-Mufti before joining Hackensack University Medical Center, where he had 24 months of dedicated fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery under the direction of Dr. Daniel Walzman. This specialized training qualifies Dr. Samaan to treat complex cerebrovascular disorders such as acute stroke, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF).
In addition to Stroke Neurology, Dr. Samaan provides subspecialized care in Endovascular Surgery. Dr. Samaan performs many neurosurgical procedures, including:
