Efrain Martinez-Alvernia

Dr. Efrain Martinez is originally from Bogota, Colombia where he attended Pontificia Xaverian University Medical School and obtained his medical degree. He obtained his postdoctoral fellowship medical degree at Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary with Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his residency at University of Southern California, and completed his fellowship training at the University of Texas in Neurophysiology with emphasis on neuromuscular diffuse disease and epilepsy

During his time in Boston at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, he was a frequent speaker and also published multiple papers that made him win multiple awards, also he had the opportunity to work with the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO).
Dr. Martinez had the opportunity to work in the neuroradiology department at Massachusetts General Hospital where he was involved in research projects that ended up on abstract submission and paper publications.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Martinez has contributed to the underserved communities. In his natal country, Colombia, he, his parents and siblings, created a nonprofit organization for the purpose of protecting and taking care of homeless patients, and patients that cannot afford health insurance.
Dr. Martinez joined the Tallahassee Neurological Clinic – Department of Neurology in August 2022, after completing his fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin. He is fluent in Spanish and English. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, hiking, fishing, and traveling.
